Cast your cares on the LORD
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken. ~Psalm 55:22

Wow. I ran across this verse today while trying to come up with a good collection of encouraging verses for those struggling with depression. I myself have had these feelings of being “down in the dumps” and not feeling “myself”. This verse spoke to my soul today!

I have so many troubles that I worry with on a daily/hourly basis. I know worry will get me no closer to a solution. I am reminded to cast these troubles on God. He will provide the solution, the peace, the consolation.

Of course in the second sentence it has this little word “righteous” or in the Message version “good”. Is God saying that as long as you are doing the right thing he will help you out? Does this mean that if we make a bad decision on our own that God will not intervene? I don’t know. I hope not because I make bad decisions often. I forget to consult God’s Word. I don’t think twice about praying about it first. I fail. I’m pretty sure we all do.

I’m thankful that God cares enough to carry our burdens. May we remember to turn them over to Him.
