My 2¢ on Mike Guglielmucci and “Healer”

 - by LeslieBrooke

If you’re not quite sure what this is all about please read the news story here first.

I’ll keep this short and to the point.  Obviously it is a terrible thing when someone in the spotlight fails. It affects everyone involved in ways I could never imagine.  My prayers go out to Mike and his family – this cannot be an easy time.

So, should we still use the song? I say yes!  The lyrics still ring true even if they were written with the wrong motivation.  There are still thousands of people out there that can sing these words and mean it.  There is testimony after testimony of people that have been healed.

Thanks to Fred for pointing out this scripture tonight while a group of bloggers chatted on Mogulus:

It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

~Philippians 1:15-18

If that doesn’t speak to this situation, I’m not sure anything will.

God is a God of second chances, and while many grieve at the harm that has been done, as Mike Foster at the Deadly Viper Blog says, “It is a sad story, but it is not the end. And there will be a better song than “Healer” written in the future. And it will be penned and sung by Michael. No doubt.”
