My Ink Story
By LeslieBrooke | June 28, 2008
For a long time I’ve wanted a tattoo, and yesterday I got my chance. With a little help from Chris (who we’ve been visiting in Atlanta) we headed down to Psycho Tattoo and I went under the needle. Here it is:

I chose this design and location for several reasons. I’ve always been a fan of butterflies and the symbolism they have in reference to 2 Corinthians 5:17. However, with all the events in our life over the last 8 years, it’s come to mean so much more than this. To me a butterfly is a life that has changed from one form to another. Many of you know that we’ve suffered 4 miscarriages in our marriage. The butterfly is a perfect representation of the life that began in us, and is now in a completely new form in heaven.
Though I thought about a wrist placement, we talked about the back and decided that it would be more appropriate. Though it’s something in our lives that we will never forget, it is in our past and all we can do from here is move forward. Having it on the back shows that those experiences are behind us, yet they are a permanent part of our lives.
So, that’s my story, do you have a tat story?

Love the Tat!! I have been toying with the idea and I love that you took the plunge.
You have no idea what that means at this precise moment - I was just reading a post by Linda on our wheresmydamnanswer site and she talks about the significance of them with respect to the adoption of her son and what they represent - when you get a chance you should it out..Here is the link it is a very touching story.

It’s beautiful. I love the meaning behind it, too.
I am in the process of preparing for my first tat. I have the design already, which is a representation of my two children. I just haven’t nailed down the bodily location.

Brooke,
I love the story and the symbolism … you’ll have many opportunities to share it, I’m sure.
